Shock

Pretty average days in some respects, however during physics today someone who had no past history had a fit. Yes it was very shocking, however reflecting back today, what i found shocking, well maybe the verb is too strong, was that a great majority of the class was almost paralyzed in their chairs, a number of whom plan to do health science and go on to do medicine.
Medicine is not clear cut and ideal, with a definitive answer like theoretical science, it has a very significant humanity part to it too.

Medicine is about caring about the welfare of people not the size of your paycheck or brain.

That is all...

  1. Fit? As in a seizure or a faint?
Medicine...exactly why I don't do science...I care way too much about my paycheck-it's unhealthy ^^

  2. I thought people were pretty good... after like 5 seconds paralysed thinking WTF, a bunch of people rushed over, helped them down and into recovery position and a.) called an ambulance as well as b.) sprinted to get the nurse.

    Not too badly done.

  3. Reaction can be natural, but it can also be trained. All I hope is that in the future, the underlying reason why everyone is doing med isn't for that paycheck or for the prestige, but it's something they want to do from the heart.

  5. The truth is a lot of them are only doing it for the pay check, prestige, transferability/acceptability of skills etc..

I'm shocked she had a fit too. She seems healthy. But for a lot of people in your class it is likely the first time they had something like this happen in front of them.

  6. Fit as in seizure, we were lucky that is was only 2 min, she's fine now and should be back at school tomorrow. Also is a reminder for us to be thankful for our health.

Personally if I didn't want to help people, if I couldn't have the ability to go do like charity work if I wanted with medicine, I would done ecology and counted animals that no one else cares about and would not have a care in the world, lol.
